Sage Alliance Lower & Middle School in Mahwah, NJ is seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide classroom assistance to students. Sage Alliance (formerly Sage Day) is a private therapeutic school that serves the academic and clinical needs of students in grades 4 to 8 with social and emotional challenges in a nurturing and supportive environment. As a Teaching Assistant here, you will work with individual and small groups of students to provide them with academic help and emotional support to gain optimum benefit from the Sage Alliance program. This is a part time, 20 hours per week . RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in taking care of the special needs of the students
- Assists with individualized instruction and works with small groups of children
- Completes clerical duties as assigned by the teacher
- Assists students with various projects and curriculum tasks
- Helps with the supervision of students on field trips planned by the teacher
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
- Distributes and collects workbooks, papers or other materials for instruction
