Job Description:
Teacher Assistant at Rebecca Schools 1 Bradford Rd Mount Vernon, NY 10553, USAJoin Rebecca Schools, a network of private therapeutic day schools serving children ages 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays, including autism spectrum disorders. Founded in 2006, we use the DIRFloortime® model to foster communication, social interaction, and personal growth. Our skilled educators and therapists collaborate in thoughtfully designed sensory gyms, art studios, and bright classrooms, creating a nurturing environment where students thrive. What we offer:
  • Consistent Pay: Same rate for all work, with no differentiation between billable and non-billable hours, and no reductions for student cancellations
  • Schedule: 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours are 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday. No nights or weekends.
  • Paid Time Off: 12 days of PTO plus school holidays, and spring, winter and summer break pay*

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to students with unique needs, ensuring they receive the attention and care required for their success.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to deliver customized instruction and reinforce key skills.
  • Perform clerical duties and help manage classroom materials, supporting the teacher in maintaining an organized learning environment.
  • Assist students with various curriculum-based tasks and projects, and help supervise during field trips and other activities.
  • Up and care for instructional equipment, guide students in using educational tools and resources, and help distribute and collect materials for lessons.
Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion
Preferred/Nice to have:
  • Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences
