DescriptionHarlem Children's Zone (HCZ) Promise Academy - a top-performing K-12 charter school within HCZ's cradle-to-career pathway of comprehensive services - seeks Elementary or Middle School Teaching Assistants for Math or ELA.The Teaching Assistant will bring a passion for the mission and core values of HCZ Promise Academy, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents of Harlem, and a desire for working in a school setting that fosters a love for children.Minimum Requirements:Early childhood education and/or educational backgroundValid New York State Teaching Certification as a teaching assistant or in the process of obtaining certification. Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.Who you areDedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise AcademyAbility to have good working relationship with supervisors, staff, parents, and outside personnelMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasksResponsibilities:Assist the Teacher in delivery of lessonHelp ensure that students master grade-level standardsMaintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all studentsConduct classroom activities when the Teacher is absent and substitutes in other classroomsFollow the school's policies and procedures for student conduct and discipline, and refuse to tolerate classroom disruptionsCoordinate the arrival and dismissal of studentsParticipate in activities outside of the classroomParticipate in program planning and communicates observations to othersHandle behavioral and other emergencies as per policy and procedures and/or behavioral performanceCommunicate observations and/or concerns regarding students' physical and psychological statusComplete data collection in an appropriate and timely mannerParticipate in staff meetings and supervisory conferences as scheduledPerform other duties as assignedOpportunity to work Saturdays during test prep season - additional compensation providedSchedule:The salary range for this position is $40,000- $45,000.
