Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Support work cells with Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost initiatives. This is an opportunity to work first shift (7:00am-3:00pm) at our Hobbs facility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Accountable for safety and performance of entire cell. Proactively identifies and supports removal of obstacles that inhibit the success of other team members. Takes ownership of team performance and drives safety initiatives.

* Plan/schedule dispatched work through cell for optimum customer service and profitability through visual management tools and production planning schedule.

* Record department metrics, according to the schedule, report out daily at 360 board walk and be able to identify gaps between performance and targets and support root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action implementation

* Be able to work with manufacturing/design engineers on a regular basis for design/process improvements (help maintain accurate routings/BOMs).

* Take direction from supervisor/manager as needed.

* Support candidate screening and onboarding process providing input to hiring manager

* Mentor new employees in cell, providing feedback for performance during training, documenting progress, and striving for high retention rate.

* Have an understanding of equipment/processes used in cell.

* Drive continuous improvement within the cell to maximize safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. Lead by example.

* Embrace Lean principles and 5-S methodologies through Pathway to Excellence initiatives.

* Be a go-to person to help troubleshoot problems within the cell.

* Identify resource imbalances within the cell and work with other leads and supervisors to move operators where needed.

* Make judgment calls on issues to maintain quality and productivity.

* Responsible for successful hand offs between shifts including scheduled work, quality concerns, resource needs, and any other general communication as needed.

* Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Must be able to troubleshoot and use appropriate resources to solve problems.

* Ability to communicate well with others and work in a team setting, building cross shift unity.

* Assist in creation, execution, and revision of standard work.

* Strong organization and delegation skills.

* Must be well versed in measuring equipment used within cells.

* Must have strong computer skills and be able to use, or learn, the manufacturing segment of the SAP system, Power BI reports, Power Apps, Outlook, and Teams.

* Ability to set up, adjust, and operate machine tools within the cell, to produce various parts within specifications from blueprints.

* Must be able to read and understand basic manufacturing mechanical blueprints, and have good basic math skills in addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

* Commitment to ongoing learning to be successful in the Team Lead role via training sessions, linked in learning, or other sources as identified.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* A high school diploma or equivalent preferred

* 1-3 years' relevant experience; varies based on skillset of individual.

* Performance and attendance record in good standing

* Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Specific PPE is required within the cell.
