Coastal Specialty Forest Products, a wholesale supplier of wood and composite building products to retail lumberyards throughout New England, is currently recruiting a motivated and energetic individual to join our team within in a lead role.
This position is a key component of our Operations' Department and is primarily responsible to provide backup support to the Warehouse Manager at our offsite location, approximately two miles from our headquarters. The ideal candidate will have previous warehouse / operations experience and must also be able to work independently and take initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists the manager with planning and organizing the workflow for each shift.
- Promotes a culture of workplace safety and ensures employees follow all safety procedures.
- Communicates and collaborates with internal departments to resolve outstanding issues.
- Collaborates with the Manager to improve processes and efficiency.
- Acts as a backup for the Manager, as needed.
- Operates a forklift to load / unload trucks and to sort or move materials within the warehouse / yard.
- Stages product in designated areas.
- Packs, ships and / or breaks down product as needed.
- Assists with employee training and development.
- Reports all discrepancies, damages, or other issues.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 18+ years of age
- Ability to multi-task
- Legally permitted to work in the United States
- Experience driving a forklift – required
- Dependable and committed to delivering high quality work
- Committed to adhering to all safety processes and protocols
- Situational awareness and ability to use good judgement
- Experience in a lumber or warehouse setting a plus – specifically in a lead capacity
Physical Conditions
- Able to lift or move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work outdoors in varying extreme weather conditions.
- Able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing.
- Able to walk and be on your feet for at least 80% of the day.
- Able to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Able to work in warehouse and outdoor environment, around related equipment.
