Job Description:

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Project Manager with 8 to 15 years of experience in our Reading, MA office. This position will support a team of civil and environmental engineers on the planning, design, and construction administration of various stormwater projects for our municipal clients across Massachusetts and New Hampshire and in collaboration with other teams on projects throughout the northeast.

What youll do:
  • Supervise and lead project teams:
    • In the development of stormwater engineering reports, studies, and designs, utilizing recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches
    • In the field evaluation and assessment of existing stormwater infrastructure.
  • Assess opportunities and define project scope, schedule, and fee, as well as determine work procedures and staffing and subconsultant assignments.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor engineering staff.
  • Pursue new work opportunities through established client relationships, market sector awareness, and competitive pursuits, including participation in proposal development and interviews / presentations.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
What you will bring:
  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Massachusetts PE license
  • 8 to 15 years of relevant experience working with municipal clients in engineering or project management roles, including:
    • Evaluation, study, and design of stormwater systems for municipal clients, including stormwater master planning services and stormwater designs to support both flood mitigation and improve receiving water quality
    • Knowledge and experience designing green infrastructure and nature-based solutions for treatment of stormwater
    • Expertise with all facets of Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System General Permit (MS4 Permit) compliance
    • Leading Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) catchment investigations and outfall sampling programs for compliance with the MS4 Permit and administrative orders
    • Developing Nutrient Reduction Plans to support Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements
    • Working knowledge of HydroCAD and PCSWMM to support stormwater design projects
  • Understanding of typical project funding mechanisms, local government budgeting and procurement processes, and federal, state, and local regulations, and familiarity with the permitting process on the federal, state, and local level.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Managing technical and support staff on multiple concurrent projects
    • Preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
    • Adhering to project budgets, tracking financial performance, and managing invoicing
    • Preparing competitive proposals and leading interview teams
  • Have strong communication skills (oral and written) and be able to remain organized with multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, team leadership, and presentations and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Active member of relevant industry associations.
  • Possessing high ethical standards, committed to producing high quality deliverables, and a commitment to teamwork, respect, and integrity.
  • Valid drivers license required.
