Qualifications: Knowledge & Skills • Proficiency in multiple skill clusters, including electronics, mechanical systems and manufacturing processes. • Knowledge of tools and components used in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems. • Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting simple to complex motor control relays, contactors, and jog circuits. • Automated and semi-automated machinery and process knowledge. • Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization. • Understanding of computers and computerized controls. • Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience • Must be at least 18 years of age • High School Diploma, or GED required. Technical school background desirable. • Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with automated and semi-automated equipment preferred. Work Environment • Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals. • Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment. • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs. • Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body. • Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components. • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time. Responsibilities: Position Summary: The Assembly Technician is responsible for ensuring the correct operation of automatic and semi-automatic assembly production equipment in accordance with governing documentation. Initiate action to prevent nonconformances related to the product and equipment. Identify and record problems relating to the product, process and/or quality system. Initiate recommendations, provide solutions, and verify the effectivity of continuous operational improvements. The Technician will apply automation skills along with related knowledge in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and hydraulics to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and modify automated machinery. Perform machine setup, equipment/product change overs, troubleshoot equipment performance problems and assist team with machine adjustments. Primary focus is on sub-assembly production to support next level assemblies. Cross training in other functional areas available. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Perform machine and systems troubleshooting and repair; assist with the specification, installation and modification of integrated systems. • Perform diagnostic checks on automated equipment; isolate problems including, sensors, controllers, encoders, servomotors, and/or servo valves. • Make repairs to production equipment utilizing the following skill sets: Controls, drawings, electrical, general mechanics, hand tools, hydraulics, machine shop, piping systems, pneumatics, and welding. • Complete shift start up paperwork such as process parameter, traceability, and start-up checklist. • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks - includes all Level I required tasks as per MP. • Understand machine MO, PC, WP, STM and Interim Specifications. • Perform changeovers - line clearance of components and tooling changeouts. • Fill component hoppers and complete necessary traceability paperwork. • Pull inspection test samples and stage for QC Operator. • Engage in machine troubleshooting on all assigned stations. • Update hourly production boards with production and efficiency numbers for all Mods; note issues that prevented goal attainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.) • Process warehouse ordering of components and pull tooling for changeovers. • Submit machine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services. • Perform all functions of a Team Operator when required. • Assist with training of new Technicians. Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas. • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
