Join us.TikTok Privacy & Security Product team is responsible for building compliant and user-friendly privacy solutions for TikTok, with the goal of building trust among TikTok users, regulators, and the public. The team is working on TikTok's privacy-related products, including user/underage protection, data access controls, data retention policies, etc.We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead Manager to lead our TikTok user/underage protection engineering team. As a manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of talented backend engineers and ensuring smooth collaboration with frontend/mobile partners and XFN such as PM, user researcher, data scientist and infrastructure to protect TikTok users, especially underages, by building innovative privacy products/features.Key Responsibilities:- Work with cross-functional teams to develop strategy and roadmap for user/minor protection and build related products/features from 0 to 1. - Lead a team of backend engineers to finalize technical requirements for backend systems needed for user/minor protection products/features, and collaborate with frontend/mobile teams for delivery.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with age related privacy laws and regulations, such as COPPA.- Manage resources and budgets to optimize team performance and achieve business objectives.- Establish a strong team by continuously mentoring/growing team members. - Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams.QualificationsMinimum qualifications:- Had experience leading user-facing products from 0 to 1. - Strong product sense and can smoothly collaborate with cross-functional partners (PM, User Researcher, etc.).- 2+ years of experience in managing or technically leading a software engineering team.- Decent technical skills in backend development, including experience with distributed systems, databases, and APIs.- Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Computer Science or related fields.- Experience working in an agile development environment.Preferred Qualifications:- Comfortable to work as product hybrid (able to step in leadership as needed when working with XFN partners like PM, User Researcher, etc.)- Strong mentorship skills- Strong empathy for user/minor's well-being- Experience with privacy principles and laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA- Experience with privacy impact assessments and risk management.TikTok is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.
