We are looking for a TAS2 (Min 4yrs Exp) HYBRID (Both Web Cam &In Person Interview Only)POSITION DESCRIPTION DIRECT CLIENT Position Number of positions: 3(THREE) Length: 12Months + Work Address: Dauphin County, PA Immediate Interviews - Both Web Cam &In Person InterviewOA/ETSO - Technical Architecture Specialist 2 *Hybrid position - 2 days onsite but part-time telework is available* * Only candidates currently residing within the greater Harrisburg area will be considered for this position. * POSITIONPURPOSE: This position is with the Enterprise Networking Services team within the Bureau of Infrastructure. The purpose of this position is to provide network support for enterprise networks within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. POSITIONREQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for planning, designing, maintaining, and integrating local and wide area network infrastructure and will have input into the Enterprise networking architecture deployed throughout the Commonwealth's Enterprise. The selected candidate must be able to communicate well and needs to be a highly technical and eager individual with numerous years of experience in a large environment. CCNA and CCNP certificates or higher are preferred, but candidates with demonstrable levels of commensurate hands-on experience will be considered. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Installs, configures, maintains,and manages network infrastructure consisting primarily of switches, routers,firewalls, Silver Peak SD-WAN edge appliances, wireless infrastructure,cellular-based appliances, and all associated hardware and software.
  • Performs network managementfunctions utilizing various industry tools to monitor, test, verify,troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems by working with users,service providers, business partners, and others to resolve problems.
  • Assists the Edge Networking teamin the planning and design of LAN/WAN network architecture including:
Network bandwidth analysis and capacityplanning.
    • Detailed specifications and schematicengineering drawings for network enhancements and modifications.
  • Assists in the execution ofplanned deployments and upgrades and supports change management efforts withinthe edge networking group.
  • Coordinates change managementefforts with agency and other edge networking teams.
  • Participates in Service Nowtrouble ticket resolution and reporting.
  • Ensures that assigned edgenetworking trouble tickets or incidents follow established processes and arefully documented within Service Now.
  • Assists with tier 2 support forwidespread events/ incidents to customers and other networking teams as needed.
  • Proactively identifies andtroubleshoots issues related to complex network problems and works them toresolution, including communication to other networking teams.
  • Participates with the Edge Networkingteam in the evaluation of, and makes recommendations on, new and emergingtechnologies as part of the ongoing hardware refresh cycles.
  • Evaluates current and futurenetwork needs and prepares technical solutions and recommendations.
  • Reviews thedevelopment of configuration standards.
  • Assists in the design of highlycomplex networks as well as makes recommendations to optimize the edge networkfor maximum efficiency.
  • Ensuresthat all existing and new networks meet or exceed the security requirements.
  • Assistsin the creation of Visio diagrams of the edge network to document new andexisting network elements, especially those deemed specialty/ field networks.
  • Maintainsdocumentation for the configuration of network components including setup,installation, and overall deployment of network hardware and software.
  • Supports remote IT staff withnetwork-related issues and deployments.
  • Supports agency operations staffand business partners with network-related issues as needed.
  • Communicates effectively bothverbally and in writing with other employees, vendors, and business partners.
  • Maintains an understanding ofvarious routing protocols.
  • Maintains a working knowledge ofnetwork monitoring tools and automation.
  • Performs other duties as required.
ADA REQUIREMENTS: Equipment in use in JobPerformance: Personal Computers, servers, network components, telephones, calculator, copy machines, printers,faxes, cell phones and common writing devices. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work from a step ladder. JOBLOCATION: Part-time telework is an option for this position, as is working from a structured office setting at an approved Commonwealth-owned facility. Occasional attendance at various meetings, conferences, and training sessions, as well as overnight travel, may be required. *** Only candidates currently residing within the greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area will be considered for this position. *** DECISIONMAKING: Appropriately manages time and engages other edge networking teams as needed or required. Overall performance of the network team and availability/performance of the network and customer satisfaction are factors used to determine level of success. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
  • Obtain and maintain CJIS clearances
  • Operate telephones/cell phones
  • Operate a PC and peripherals/ servers and network components
  • Operate motor vehicles and maintain a valid PA driver's license
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills using the English language
  • Read and comprehend technical literature
  • Lift equipment up to 40 pounds

  • Stay current with new and emerging network-related trends and technologies

  • Network Switching required 4-5years Network Routing required 3-4 years CCNA desired 2-3years CCNP beneficial 1-3 years SD-WAN beneficial 2 years Required/Desired Skills Candidates must have ALL the Required skills in order to be considered for the position.
