Our client, a contemporary menswear company, is seeking an experienced Technical Designer to cover Men's and Boys' Outerwear, Tops, Bottoms, Shorts, wovens, knits, and denim fabric categories. This is an in-office role 5 days per week with 1 day flex to work from home monthly.
- The salary range for this role is 85,000-100,000 based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage technical packets for Men's and Boys' Outerwear, Tops, Bottoms, Shorts, woven, knit, and denim fabric classifications.
- Oversee garment construction and fitting processes, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout.
- Implement necessary pattern corrections and maintain precision in technical documentation.
- Effectively communicate technical changes to manufacturing partners.
- Measure and prepare fit samples for fittings on models and mannequins.
- Create and uphold accurate initial and production specifications that align with brand standards.
- Develop and maintain specification sheets, measurement charts, sizing spec, and grading systems using Microsoft Excel.
- Organize and prioritize departmental workload to adhere to established timelines.
- Develop tech packs utilizing Adobe Illustrator.
- Create sketches and specifications using Adobe software.
- Maintain detailed product development files, line sheets, and design archives.
- Maintain and track design and sample schedules to ensure product development calendar.
- Perform design and product development research, including fabric selection and seasonal design categories.
- Contribute to editing relevant designs and prints.
Qualifications:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience in technical design.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with adept problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of denim and washing processes as well as indigo materials.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office.
- Expertise in fit, garment construction, and pattern development is advantageous.
- Experience in communicating technical specifications with production facilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and the capability to prioritize effectively.
- Readiness to travel as required.
