Our client, a global engineering and consulting company, has an exciting permanent opportunity for a Technical Manager, Process Engineering to be based in Houston, TX.

JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Manager, Process Engineering will join the process engineering team to contribute to in the growth of our specialty chemical manufacturing and energy transition practices in the Gulf Coast region. Over time, this person will have the opportunity to build and grow a team as the energy transition business expands.

You will work alongside our Energy engineering team to develop opportunities and lead process project execution in the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical sectors, with a focus on the Gulf Coast region. You will coordinate with our multi-discipline design/engineering staff located in offices across the US to collaborate on the total life cycle of projects, including working with the client to define a problem statement, preparing proposals and technical work scopes, estimating engineering labor hours, conducting technical studies, performing front-end loading evaluations, executing detailed engineering design and transitioning projects over to construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the business development team as a subject matter expert in chemical process engineering and energy transition in the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical sectors
  • Managing and executing feasibility studies, concept development and engineering design projects as a technical lead or project manager in collaboration with Company's engineering teams
  • Developing of design deliverables at various project stages, such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, heat and material balances, equipment specifications, control system philosophies and other similar documents
  • Identifying issues and risks and proposing solutions using innovative and novel solutions, while leveraging ability to grasp unfamiliar concepts
  • Coaching and mentoring earlier career staff
  • Developing and presenting technical presentations and presenting to clients at industry conferences
  • Leveraging existing network in the Gulf Coast region to identify opportunities for company engagement
  • Responsible for managing budget and schedule performance on assigned process projects
  • Effectively communicate/document with project team, including outside contacts, customers, and other engineering departments

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Motivated to engage with clients and to mentor and support development of process engineering expertise with earlier-career staff
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and independently, in an office environment, virtually, or at a project site
  • Desire to continue to learn, grow and advance career

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical process and energy transition technologies and trends, such as hydrogen, biofuels, chemical synthesis (methanol, ammonia), waste to energy, gasification, pyrolysis
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills, ability to manage own work and delegation to others, technical writing, and a strong customer focus
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Process simulation experience (e.g., CHEMCAD, PROMAX) is a plus
  • Variable travel required - 0 to 25% depending on project demand
  • Valid driver's license required
