Job Description:

Volley Automation is seeking a Product / Program Manager to help unite all our ongoing product development under a single unified product strategy. This is a great opportunity for a Program Manager looking to transition into a Product Manager role. The successful candidate will manage our internal development to align with our technology roadmap and product sales initiatives that are managed by our CTO and Head of Product. You should also have experience collaborating with hardware and software engineers to be able to speak their language around features and timing. You will be partnering with Engineering Leaders to manage timelines, expectations, and the overall strategic development roadmap. You will be adept in gathering data from a variety of sources into a cohesive product roadmap and aligning the organizational resources to that strategy.This is a broad role with strategic input but involves significant individual contributor work. You must be ready to jump into a complex, evolving environment and prioritize efficiently. You should expect that you will be setting up new systems, pulling together data from a variety of sources, working cross-functionally between the Product, Sales, and Engineering teams to balance competing priorities focused on maximizing value delivered by the engineering roadmap.Responsibilities

  • Manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs.
  • Identify product opportunities that maximize value delivery to the various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Makes process improvements: Catalyst for faster business delivery, improves the correctness and accuracy of controls; simplifies or eliminates unnecessary processes.
  • Creates consensus, secures commitments, negotiates positive outcomes, drives team alignment, and delivers on objectives based on the defined success criteria.
  • Deals with ambiguity. Can solve problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks, before they become roadblocks.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog. Actively ensures the engineering programs stay aligned with the Volley Automation business objectives. Establish, maintain, and verify product requirements, launch and land these requirements to our external customers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure teams are aligned with product deliverables.
  • Manage the overall features and delivery schedule, proactively mitigates risks, and keeps the scope of engineering efforts under control.
  • Own program communications and accelerates progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers and escalating issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Defines showstoppers related to product quality, makes sure bugs are triaged, and ensures issues are resolved or mitigated in the right order.
  • Ensures the prioritization frameworks for features are followed and provides feedback on their impact and effectiveness. Ensure that key stakeholders in Engineering, Commercial, Operations, Marketing, and Design functions are aligned and coordinated with key initiatives.
  • Manage and reduce as much product level complexity as possible through delivering minimum viable products, demonstrating them and articulating their evolution.
  • Own project status communications. Consistently imparts clear and concise summaries for the projects to the leadership/management team and is effective at answering questions in detail.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of demonstrated product management experience with a complex interleaved product portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to define detailed technical requirements, user stories and success criteria based on business requirements and overarching product strategies and customer outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to mitigate risks and help reduce a product's exposure to typical failure modes (e.g., requirements not sufficiently understood, ineffective cross-team collaboration, APIs not protected, insufficient testing, ambiguous success criteria).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a product roadmap.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Executive level presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in Architecture, engineering or related discipline.
  • 5 days a week on-site expected.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.

  • A background in construction, building design, urban planning, or architecture.
