Description

Duties

* Leads data analysis for problem-solving activities for safety topics.

* Ensures effective root cause and counter measures are identified for OSHA recordables.

* Develops and implements department safety strategies, programs, communication, and safety inputs for the annual business plan.

* Maintains knowledge and recommends changes to processes and equipment based on US and BMW safety and occupational health standards, policies, procedures, and practices to eliminate and control potential hazards.

* Serves as the department subject matter expert for compliance, incident investigation, statistical analysis, and other departmental safety inquiries. Supports IHS, EIP (Early Intervention Program), and Workers Compensation in needed investigations, claim closures, and legal support Oversees and manages industrial hygiene program and sampling operation in the assigned technology.

* Leads and is accountable for applicable ergonomics studies and assessment of Associate risk for new products, series production, change management, and process/procedure changes.

* Trains department Safety Associates and leads orientation and safety classes (e.g. lock-out training, orange tag training, ergonomics training). Leads, manages, and identifies projects to ensure sustainable target achievement and reports project status and system performance to management.

* Develops safety and ergonomics trainings and communication, as required.

* Assesses risk of new technology, automation, process modifications, and machine systems (e.g. robotics, PLCs, safety controllers, laser apps). Recommends and steers engineering safety controls for new and series processes.

* Analyzes the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of safety hazards in jobs, processes, products, or other systems.

* Coordinates safety into bid packages, product development, new product launch, and new equipment installation.

* Collaborates with line builders, planners, and department specialists in the review of drawings, schematics, 3D renderings, and virtual process builds. Coordinates internal and external audits involving ISO 45001 (Safety Management System).

* Performs equipment buy off procedures for new processes, equipment installation, and change management process. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.

* Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.

* Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

* BS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, Ergonomics or Engineering; OR AS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, or Ergonomics AND 2 years of professional experience in Safety, Industrial Health, Ergonomics, Industrial Engineering, or related field; OR The equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in Safety, Industrial Health, Ergonomics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

* 5+ years of professional experience in Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, or Industrial Hygiene.

* 3+ years of professional experience in project management (preferred).

* 3+ years of professional automotive/manufacturing experience (preferred).

* ASP- Associate Safety Professional, OR GSP-Graduation Safety Professional, OR SMS- Safety Management Specialist, OR OSHA Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate.

* Certified Professional Ergonomist (preferred) Certified Safety Professional (preferred) Certified Industrial Hygienist (preferred)

* 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).

* 5+ years of professional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).

* 5+ years of knowledge in OSHA general industry standards.

* 5+ years of knowledge of anthropometric data use.

* 3+ years of skills in managing industrial hygiene topics.

* 2+ years of knowledge in performing ergonomics force measurements.

* 1+ years of knowledge of controls, safety devices, and systems.

* Basic ability to train groups effectively.

* Basic knowledge of ergonomic analysis, best practice, and principals
