Mission of the Role

This is a full-time role for a Technical Sales Specialist at Adams based in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama Area. The Technical Sales Specialist will help customers achieve their automation and reliability goals by utilizing their technical and product knowledge to determine the best solution for the customer. Candidate must be comfortable with team selling and be willing to utilize internal and external resources/specialists on a regular basis.

Requirements for the Role

  • Commitment to personal development in technical aptitude, product knowledge, and professional selling
  • 4 year degree in an engineering related field or equivalent in-field experience
  • Three years industry sales experience
  • Working knowledge of motion control, fluid power, and mechatronics
  • Enjoys ethically beating competitors and has a strong track record of performance in previous roles.
  • Self Motivated with a positive attitude
  • To excel in this position the candidate will:

    • Make 10-12 customer visits weekly utilizing both in person and virtual selling.
    • Develop and execute a territory business plan to grow both existing and targeted new customers.
    • Manage new business opportunities and document activities through the funnel process using our CRM (HubSpot).
    • Manage and present complex projects throughout the sales cycle.
    • Be a champion of time management and control your calendar.
    • Be held accountable, but not micro-managed.
    • Maintain and increase market share in a respective territory with existing accounts and new prospects.
    • Achieve yearly growth goals in both profitability and focus product lines
    • Responsible for learning focus products and having practical knowledge of all additional product lines.
    • Draw upon critical thinking skills and consultative sales techniques to sell creative solutions, not simply components.
    • Operates within the intended framework of Adams' mission and vision statements.
