OVERVIEW:As the Technical Service Coordinator you will work under the guidance of the Service Operations Manager, this role oversees projects from start to finish, including assisting with and leading the assembly and disassembly of various rotating equipment. As a crucial team member at the Georgia Service Center, this hands-on position demands excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to manage the high pressure of meeting deadlines & budget constraints. Responsibilities include performing tasks professionally to enhance the company's image and ensure compliance with current Health and Safety legislation while upholding GIW Industries Inc.'s Health and Safety Policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Review and interpret service orders and JDS forms to confirm the availability of the scope of work, technical data, and customer requirements before assigning tasks to technicians
- Interpret GIW/KSB and vendor engineering drawings, and effectively communicate this information to the shop floor
- Prepare rework drawings and technical instructions for workshop technicians and vendors, including quality control plans
- Create detailed condition reports during the process for quote generation, work instructions, scope of work, and communication with customers
- Maintain continuous coordination and interaction throughout all stages with the Service and Operations Manager, shop personnel, sales, and vendors to meet customer expectations
- Knowledge of various pump designs, components, and other rotating equipment
- Understand different shaft seals and sealing plans, including mechanical seals and packing
- Be familiar with various types of bearings and bearing arrangements, such as Babbitt and roller bearings
- Have experience with machining and welding processes
- Maintain a high level of customer contact and communication, ensuring excellent communication skills with both customers and team members
- Coordinate jobs and projects from start to finish, both in ERP systems and on the shop floor, managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Use ERP systems to capture relevant daily time entries, set up operation steps and job tasks for disassembly/repair processes, create repair bills of material, and release purchase requisitions to initiate the expediting process with the purchasing department
- Quote gearbox and pump repairs, machine shop services, fabrication, field service, power generation, industrial wastewater, municipal, and general industrial projects
- Coordinate with purchasing to obtain and organize parts and materials pricing for quotes
- Communicate with vendors to secure the fastest parts and materials pricing turnaround time
- Assist with implementing department goals, and train fellow employees with daily functions as needed
- Compile and complete customer repair QC data packages and final assembly data reports
- Serve as a liaison with GIW/KSB vendors to obtain pricing and availability of spares and services for service-related jobs
- Collaborate with internal work centers/personnel to discuss and verify work scopes and tasks
- Schedule and manage job flow throughout the entire process, driving efficiency to achieve on-time delivery and accuracy
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:- 5 to 8 years of experience in an industrial environment with mechanical and technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field with 2-3 years of experience OR alternative: Two-year degree in a technical or mechanical field with 3-5 years of experience, or 5 to 8 years of experience in a custom manufacturing or service environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in multitasking, reliable, ethical, responsive, and adept at handling stress while adjusting to changes in a dynamic environment
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Patience, proven problem-solving skills and the ability to manage service quotations and order processes
- Ability to participate on cross-functional teams and prioritize work based on urgency
- Technical writing skills for managing technical reports describing conditions, repairs and failure analysis
- Ability to convey detailed assessments of equipment and failure modes pictorially, verbally and in writing
- Thorough grasp of measurement units and adept at converting between metric and imperial systems
- Understanding of material and pump applications, including reading pump curves, blueprints and service manuals
- Strong understanding of bearing fits, gearing, failure analysis and repair methods
- Computer skills in ERP (SAP/C4C, Oracle, CRM, etc.), Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint), Adobe and AutoCAD
- Understanding of business flow in a service and/or manufacturing environment
- Primary language required: English. Bilingual candidates in Spanish or German preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Depending upon the particular needs of the area/department, physical requirements may include, but are not limited to lifting up to 70 lbs. (Thomson & Florida) and 50 lbs. (Canada), squatting, pulling, kneeling, pushing and bending
- Must be willing to wear a respirator to fulfill painting responsibilities
