The Technical Lead will serve in a capacity to elevate capabilities & services for our KoolDuct System, a premium performance, pre-insulated ductwork solution offering benefits such as reduced installation time, low weight, space savings, and energy efficiency. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this integral team member will advance our value creation initiatives, by substantiating performance with testing and documentation that is compliant with Kingspan & industry requirements. This individual must have a keen ability for evaluating complex technical situations, deriving workable solutions and executing plans to deliver results for sustaining solution relevance and driving innovation. Key strategic deliverables include leading by influence for enrollment of internal & external resources, developing collaborative relationships with colleagues across the business and raising awareness around industry trends and requirements.

Key Duties Include:

Essential Duties

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.

  • Provides technical support such as: product information, product installation, U value calculations, competitive product analysis and energy modeling.

  • Monitor phone and email inquiries from internal sales, distributors, contractors, architects, engineers and design professionals.

  • Develop and use tools to communicate product value proposition, properties and performance

  • Understanding of product health and sustainability programs such as EPD, LEED and HPD, etc. Interpret and communicate with sales and customers performance of Kingspan products.

  • Prepare and distribute products specifications, installation guides, technical letters, submittal sheet and technical bulletins.

  • Provide product and technical training to properly onboard new Kingspan team members.

  • Review and sign off Kingspan marketing literatures and product page changes on Kingspan website to ensure accuracy of claims by reviewing compliance requirement and test results.

  • Prepare and deliver product and technical presentations to educate users and specifiers and to promote Kingspan products. Work with Marketing to prepare and issue White Papers to help communicate product value proposition and case studies.

  • Create inspection reports based on information submitted by sales and customers

  • Issue Warranty Certificates after verification of appropriate products are used and proper installation practice is followed. Address warranty coverage issues when questions arise.

  • Work with Compliance and Quality team to address customer complaints with Kingspan Products.

  • Provides product knowledge training, specification writing, and technical review of projects.

  • Represents Kingspan at trade association meetings (XPSA, FSC, and NAMBA etc.) to advocate for Kingspan products.

  • Attend various trade shows to provide technical support to sales

  • Recommends modifications to products and services to meet customer needs and keep up to date with industry trends.

  • Support Testing and Marketing departments with technical support and product guidance.

  • 10% - 20% travel required.

  • Qualifications:

    Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred from an accredited university or an Associates degree or Certification program for Architectural drafting or Civil drafting. Two (2) to three (3) years of outside business to business experience, preferably in building products/insulation is optimal.

    Must have:

    • The ability to learn and understand building codes, standards, compliance procedures, and specific legislation that relate to the industry in order to guide the application process for compliancy.

    • The ability to learn the detailed knowledge of the companys products and services appropriate to each customer including technical design specifications and certification.

    • Experience or Knowledge working with Computer Design Software such as AutoCAD.

    • Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office).

    • Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and problem solving ability.

    • Effective time management strategies to ensure multiple priorities are managed to completion.

    • Effective judgements about organizational priorities and distinguish between tasks that require personal involvement and tasks that need to be completed by outside providers or other internal resources.

    Must be able to:

    • Respect confidential information and devote sufficient time to complete tasks.

    • Maintain accurate records and sufficient journal entries of discussions and agreed actions.

    • Adjust to changing priorities and communicates to others to provide realistic expectations for the completed tasks.

    • Work within the Companys policies, procedures and standards, and makes sure details or uncertainties are confirmed by appropriate staff.

    • Put in extra effort when required and is tenacious in the pursuit of targets and goals.
