The role of the Part-Time Technical Support Technician for the Performing Arts Center (PAC) is to provide technical lighting and sound operations for all college and theater-related events. This position will include working nights and weekends.
The Part-Time Technical Support Technician receive supervision from the PAC Manager or the Instructor/Director, Drama depending on the production.
* Anticipate and understand renters' needs, including sound and lighting equipment and operational staff to ensure proper and effective execution.
* Coordinate and prepare contracts for lighting and sound vendors.
* Prepare the PAC for all performances, rentals, graduations and other events including checking all equipment is working properly and functional for the event.
* Evaluate and recommend necessary repairs for the PAC based on cost, necessity and time.
* Design the lighting plots, create special effects and hang/focus lights for COAST Player productions and PAC performances.
* Serve as the lighting and sound engineer for COAST Player productions, PAC performances and for various events/performances for external productions.
* Coordinate sound design for orchestra and piano.
Required:
* Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or experience and continuous education in a related field
* 2 years experience in sound and lighting programming operations
* Strong interpersonal communication skills
* Experience operating analog and digital soundboard and a portable passport sound system
* Experience operating a lighting board
Preferred:
* Experience operating a Yamaha LS9 digital mixing console and a portable passport sound system
* Experience programming and operating a Barringer 32-channel soundboard and APEX 5 US - APEX 5 24K lighting board
Knowledge of:
* Principles of theater and performance operations and programming
* Theater lighting, sound equipment and projection
Ability to:
* Be flexible in order to work through unexpected system issues when they occur
* Plan and execute all the specific tasks necessary to perform the job duties
* Understand and follow oral and written instructions
* Work independently in the absence of supervision
