IntroductionThe Technical Trainer plans, prepares and delivers training programs to meet the development needs of the M&R employees. Provides quality, timely and innovative training curriculum, including but not limited to: safety and applications along with training within Gas Operations job classifications. Builds and maintains working relationships with operations, construction, engineering, customer operations, etc. while meeting their business needs. Assess course and curriculum development. Takes actions to ensure employees are properly prepared to work safely, effectively and in compliance with all Regulatory, OSHA and industry requirements. This role also contributes to final determination on employee training and work readiness/progression status. Works together with field operations and On the Job Trainers to determine employee competency to determine and deliver competency training as needed.This position will have estimated travel up to 20%.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Trainer 1:Leads learning events to build student knowledge and skills with a primary focus on gas operation and maintenance, service, M&R, engineering, and other operations activitiesIntegrates classroom training, hands on practice and simulation, and on the job training (OJT) events that maximize student learningDelivers training initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees to build employees masteryIdentifies and recommends classroom and hands on training activity improvements while working with curriculum team to continually improve training activitiesDirects the planning, execution, delivery, and facilitation of all training programs in specified disciplinesProvides training recommendation to governance processProvides training recommendations to Operator Qualifications/Certifications programs to ensure employees are able to demonstrate knowledge and hands-on competencyManage & direct the work of trainees while in training coursesPromotes a safe work environment by actively participating in all aspects of employee safety program and support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of co-workersTechnical Trainer 2: (Includes Technical Trainer 1 duties plus):Independently provides learning activities for more complex courses to improve student knowledgeOversees training of tech trainer 1Implements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employeesIdentifies/reacts to learning opportunities, while developing employees towards masterly level of job positionsPartners with operations management to identify training needs and delivers programs to ensure complianceIdentifies needs and participates with Gas Standard reviews within operationsResearches, analyzes and applies current technology and related training by reviewing periodicals, journals, attending seminars, etc. to continuously improve training coursesMonitors energy industry trends, analyzes potential impacts and recommends strategic approachesTechnical Trainer 3 (Includes Technical Trainer 2 duties plus):Leads learning events that build student knowledge and skill with a primary focus on gas activitiesDirects classroom training, hands on practice and simulation, and on the job training (OJT) events that maximize student learningImplements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employeesLeads a Training governance programSubject matter expert for curriculum developmentDevelops and maintains working relationships with front line leaders to be aware of trainee experiences and knowledgeMonitors energy industry trends, analyzes potential impacts and recommends strategic approachesSenior Technical Trainer (Includes Technical Trainer 3 duties plus):Manage classroom training, hands-on practice and simulation to maximize student learningConduct skill evaluations for Trainer 1, 2 & 3 positionsMentor trainers and assist them in their developmentRepresent technical training by delivering presentations at industry sponsored eventsLead strategic discussion with key business partners regarding annual training work planSubject matter expert to assist with curriculum development and gas standards reviews and updatesTestifies in Arbitrations, depositions, and court cases as neededRequired Qualifications for PositionTechnical Trainer 1:1+ years of experience in gas industry and/or background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnelExperience delivering effective technical training programsExcellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skillsKnowledge of PC applications/skillsValid Drivers LicenseTechnical Trainer 2:3+ years of experience in gas industry and/or background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnelExperience delivering effective technical training & evaluation programsKnowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assignedExcellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skillsWorking knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)Valid Drivers LicenseTechnical Trainer 3:5+ years of experience in gas utility industry and/or background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnelExtensive experience in delivering effective technical training & evaluation programsExtensive knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assignedPrevious experience as a facilitator for various size groupsExcellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skillsAdvanced knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement (where applicable)Valid Drivers LicenseSenior Trainer:8+ years of experience in natural gas utility industry and/or background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnelB.A. or B.S. and/or other technical related certifications preferredExtensive experience in delivering effective technical training to multiple levels of the organizationExpert understanding of adult learning methodsDemonstrated mastery of competencies for the Senior Trainer level positionExcellent facilitation skills or for various
