The Technical Writer will work alongside engineers and other technical writers to document the fine details of manufacturing processes and equipment operation. The ideal candidate is familiar with technical writing and can quickly capture information with notes, recordings, and photographs. Once captured, this information can be transformed into clear Manufacturing Instructions (MIs), visual aids, training checklists, and maintenance instructions. MIs are the singular record of how Tesla's products are assembled, making them the processes that hundreds of our production associates follow. Responsibilities
- Composing instructional documents on factory topics
- Moving step-by-step through factory topics with engineers, taking notes and photographs for new documentation along the way
- Consistent style and formatting defined by detailed templates
- Promptly and clearly escalating issues and questions verbally and/or via email during documentation drafting
- Takes pride in his/her hands-on work, analytical ability, organizational skills and attention to detail

Requirements - Proficient in creating detailed process documentation to effectively convey concepts, ideas, and instructions
- Skilled in translating verbal information into precise written procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital photography, encompassing still and motion photography, aspect ratio, subject framing, and file management between camera and computer
- Experienced in formatting and enhancing digital images, including adjusting image size, resolution, color, brightness, contrast, rotation, and cropping
- Familiarity with developing technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment is advantageous
- Capable of thriving under pressure, managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Expected Compensation - Associate Technical Writer - $51,000 - $76,500/annual salary
- Technical Writer - $64,600 - $96,900/annual salary
- Sr Technical Writer - $85,000 - $127,500/annual salary
- Staff Technical Writer - $102,000 - $153,000/annual salary
- Sr Staff Technical Writer - $115,600 - $173,400/annual salary
- Principal Technical Writer - $125,800 - $188,700/annual salary
