Role Title: Technical Writer-Model Development

Duration: 3-6 month CTH possibly longer

Location: Prefer local to Buffalo, NY or Bridgeport, CT or NYC- 3 days a week onsite. Open to remote with travel for right candidate

Role Description:

The Technical Writer will work closely with our model developers to produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and user manuals, translating complex statistical and quantitative information into a standardized format for various models (CCAR/ACL/Underwriting/PPNR/Liquidity/etc). This role involves extensive collaboration with model developers, subject matter experts, reviewers, and teams from implementation, production, and business sectors, across diverse financial products and modeling techniques, to ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation. Responsibilities include interpreting data analysis, technical specifications, statistical methods, business use cases, regulatory guidelines, and internal controls to ensure top-quality technical documentation. Additionally, the Technical Writer will lead training sessions for employees on standard documentation practices.

Requirements:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience, or Associate's degree and at least 9 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting theories and practices within the commercial banking industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts/theory and their relation to profitability reporting.
  • Experience Preferred:

    • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • 4-6 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer or in a similar role, preferably in a quantitative discipline within the banking industry.
    • Experience with LaTeX/Sphinx or other documentation tools.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards.
    • Working knowledge of the model development process and statistics/quantitative disciplines.
    • Experience with Python/SAS and other modeling software.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
    • Familiarity with tools such as GitHub, Dash, Shiny, and Flask is a plus.
    • Understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and version control systems.
