The Position: AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Technical Writer (Test and Evaluation Support Specialist)-Junior to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The salary range of this position is $58,000.00 - $85,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. Position Background: The Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group is at the cutting edge of Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (AARDT&E). Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped to work seamlessly together, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation of aircraft and weapons systems across the Department of Defense. What sets the DAiTA Group apart is our exceptional ability to mitigate program risks by crafting intricate battlespace environments where cutting-edge concepts, advanced hardware, and skilled warfighters can dive into the missions of both today and the future. The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department is at the heart of this innovative ecosystem. This team is the driving force behind the research, development, management, design, documentation, fabrication, installation, integration, testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of the Air Combat Environment Test Facility (ACETEF) and other DAiTA AARDT&E capabilities, laboratories, and facilities. With IBST at the helm, we're not just preparing for the future but shaping it. A typical day as a Technical Writer (Test and Evaluation Support Specialist)-Junior may include:
- Works with a team supporting Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing on the F-35 Lightning II to ensure the aircraft's systems can operate effectively in various electromagnetic environments
- Supports EMC testing that evaluates the aircraft's susceptibility to electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external and internal sources such as radar, other communication systems and its own electronic and weapons systems
- Assists in test events as the technical writer
Must-haves: - HS Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- College-level or DoD support experience in technical writing and producing technical documentation
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- The ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start
Desired Skills: - BS/BA Degree
- Experience editing engineering and other STEM-related technical/research reports

Physical Environment and Working Conditions: The physical environment requires the employee to work in the field with tersters, on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required. The employee will be required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
