Overview:

The Technician III is an integral part of the medical food and formula production and maintenance team. The Technician III is responsible for troubleshooting, repair work, and preventative maintenance on all production machinery, equipment, and instrumentation to sustain plant operations at highly efficient levels. Equipment includes mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fluid handling systems.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Technical School or college degree preferred
  • 5 + years performing corrective and preventive maintenance on Manufacturing equipment used to fill powders, liquids and general utilities (i.e. Boilers, Air Compressors, Water Chillers, AC systems). Tetra Pak equipment experience preferred.
  • Holds or is able to obtain a boiler engineer in charge license
  • Knowledge of PLC, and Electro-Mechanical systems
  • Must be able to multi-task, adjust priorities as required, and blend in day-to-day responsibilities
  • Knowledge of boiler function and operation; ability to pass special licensing exam for boiler operation
  • Ability to have a positive, can-do attitude, be reliable and punctual
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset to improve procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of industrial plumbing and electricity
  • Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance plans and software
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills to disassemble and assemble all parts of machines ensure all preventive maintenance is performed per manufacturers specifications
  • Commercial or Master Electrician License a plus
  • Ability to weld (MIG or TIG). Ability to weld process pipe a plus
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities at all organizational levels; tactful, mature, and flexible
  • Ability to work independently or as a team, with good written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment in accordance with Quality and Safety policies
  • Ability to maintain company confidential data
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

This position works in a food manufacturing environment and requires the ability to adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, workplace safety and security policies including wearing required personal protective equipment, as well hair net, beard net, etc. as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud requiring the use of hearing protection.

Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk on concrete floors, bend, reach, push, and pull, performing repetitive motions. Must be able to wear all personal protective equipment as outlined in Quality and Safety policies.

Responsibilities:

Provide maintenance support to Production department along with other departments, as needed.

Support line changeovers.

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and other equipment in the facility.

Troubleshoot all manufacturing equipment and related issues and follow up as needed.

Teach production teams basic equipment operation, lubrication and cleaning techniques.

Maintain parts room organized and order parts are needed.

Support the installation and startup of new machinery and equipment.

Maintain a daily record of time and parts involved with assignments.

Collaborate with other mechanics, electricians, production workers and other staff to promptly resolve maintenance issues.

Ensures base-conditioning and lubrication programs are in place.

Will coordinate multiple jobs effectively and efficiently and handle detailed and broad range projects.

Focuses on improving overall costs of maintenance repairs and downtime.

Advise and train Maintenance Mechanics in coordination with management.

Meet deadlines and be detail oriented.

Install and modify production equipment and machinery.

Document project activities and prepare appropriate operating standards and/or maintenance procedures for all equipment and processes.

Complete documentation process for machinery usage, equipment maintenance, downtime and purchases.

Maintain cleanliness of tools and maintenance equipment shop.

Maintain appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies.

Must follow LOTO practices and abide by the safety mandates to operate equipment in a safe manner.

Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices

Other duties as assigned.

  • 5% - Travel to bakery located in Brockton, MA as required.
