Position Summary:Technicians achieve flat rate hours and gross profit goals while exceeding the expectations of our guests by providing exceptional, surprising and professional guest service. Technicians are responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment on vehicles, maintaining shop efficiency, following safety procedures, assisting guests and mentoring others in the shop.

2.Maintain efficiency at 120% of flat rate hours produced
- Plan, organize and maintain efficient work flow
- Minimize distractions
- Refrain from conducting personal business (Facebook, twitter, texting, phone calls during shop hours)
- Keep track of vehicle repair orders with pending approval, special order parts and other delays
- Follow up with Service Advisors, Parts Department and Service Manager on pending vehicle repair orders
3.Maintain CSI standards and contribute to overall shop CSI
- Minimize re-works or customer comebacks
- Produce quality repair and service
- Verify work is done to specification and complete
- Take responsibility for repair orders
- Mentor and assist team members
- Maintain shop cleanliness
4.Maintain a safe shop and work in accordance to safety standards
- Wear safety goggles when using power equipment and working under vehicles
- Lift and carry objects according to safety procedures
- Wear slip resistant shoes
- Ask for assistance when lifting and/or carrying heavy objects
- Operate power equipment with proper guards and in a manner that the equipment is designed
- Keep shop clean and free from slip, trip and other hazards
- Operate vehicles in a safe manner using defensive driving techniques
5.Create value in service provided and the shop
- Obtain certifications and maintain those held
- Obtain licensing and maintain those held
- Master vehicle mechanical information and teach others
6.Diagnose repairs and perform mechanical work on vehicles
- Diagnose issues and problems with vehicles including engines, air conditioning, exhaust, and other major components
- Perform repair work on vehicles engines and major components
7.Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions of the Position- Diagnose repair needs on vehicles
- Ability and knowledge to conduct repair orders and mechanical work on vehicles beyond basic oil and filter changes, tire rotations, wiper and fluid replacement, etc.
- Operate a phone, computer and other general office equipment
- Work with the public in a professional and guest centric manner
- Communicate with guests, vendors, managers and co-workers
- Answer questions regarding vehicles, the dealership and service
- Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle safely and within the legal guidelines
- Ability to read, understand and follow instructions
Skills, Education and Certification Requirements:- Moderate computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn other programs
- Ability to effectively build a rapport with others
- Valid in-state driver's license
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
- Good communication skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- Appropriate certifications for engine diagnostics, inspections and repairs
Physical Demands- Works in a variety of temperatures; periodically exposed to the weather including rain, snow, heat and cold
- Bends, stoops and goes from a standing position to a squatting position (and vice versa) several times throughout the work shift
- Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 30 pounds frequently
- Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 65 pounds occasionally
- Uses hands, wrists and arms in repairing vehicles with twisting, grasping and other motions
- Works in confined spaces, under vehicles and stooped over engines frequently
- Travels throughout the dealership and lots occasionally on foot and in some circumstances a Company provided golf cart
