Job Description:
Typical Duties of a Technology Center Manager include:•Oversee Operations execution at a large-scale commercial research center (~8,000 pigs) in congruence with WTM Production Protocols and the R & D QMS.•Drive biological pig performance by executing and coaching direct reports on daily SOPs. •Plan and execute site logistics for all pig and feed movements.•Collaborate with internal and external Research staff in execution of daily and routine research tasks while keeping safety top priority such as: ensuring safe work habits, creating a safe working environment, and reporting all work-related injuries. •Execute on-farm technology evaluations and on-farm process improvement.•Oversee recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, and development of new team members, in alignment with company policies for hiring, staffing, discipline, and terminations.•Work collaboratively with internal and external maintenance staff and vendors to ensure the Technology Center is maintained and repaired as needed.•Work collaboratively with internal Research staff to maintain and validate research equipment, including cleanliness of the equipment and facility. •Maintain financial and biological performance of the facility within the top 25 % of the company.•Accountable for the P & L of the facility, including managing the site inventory and operating expenses.•Ensure responsible use of company resources within an operating budget.Minimum QualificationsEducationMinimum of Associates Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Business, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.Experience2 years management experience with 1-3 years' experience in either swine management or applied commercial swine researchKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of: •Pig biology•Computer operations•Microsoft Office operation•Quality management systems•Standard work implementation•Human capital managementSkilled in:•Swine husbandry (includes individual pig care, feed and system management, and ventilation requirements)•Verbal and written communication•Biological and financial awareness concerning animal production systems•People management, leadership, and planning skills•Critical thinking and informed decision makingAbility to:•Work on hard floors, stand for extended periods of time, and lift at least 50 lbs.•Oversee information and human resource management•Work both independently and collaboratively•Work within an ambiguous environment at times•Communicate in a fashion that results in efficient, accurate execution to both internal and external business units•Work with allied and internal partnerships in a professional, courteous manner•Maintain confidentiality•Listen and accept coaching from peers and managers•Attention to detailThe Maschhoffs is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers an exceptional benefits package!
