SCOPE OF POSITIONThe Technology Specialist is a hands-on position. This role will provide leadership, strategy, budgeting, planning and implementation for all aspects of technology. Technology systems include PCs/MACs, handheld devices, software, the data network, security cameras, door security, building monitors, phones, kiosks, etc. Understanding the various church ministries and how information technology impacts them, and training and assisting staff and volunteers, are critical components of this position. The Technology Specialist will provide direction to contractors and manage primary IT vendor relationships. This position reports to the Executive Director.GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership, direction and oversight of all aspects of information technology. Systems responsibility includes PCs/MACs, handheld devices, software, the data network, security cameras, door security, building monitors, phones, kiosks, etc.
- Establishes and implements short-range and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, and effects changes required to enhance the operation and quality of the information systems.
- Ensures maximum effectiveness of staff while maintaining appropriate security measures.
- Establishes and maintains a thorough understanding of the various IT systems and how they impact the various ministries.
- Provides staff training and assists staff at their workstation.
- Ensures that the network, systems and PCs are operating at a high level of reliability with minimal down time.
- Develops and manages the IT budget.
- Provides day-to-day administration and maintenance activities on all computer resources including repairs, installations, loading software, maintaining configuration records, backups, etc., or oversees contractors performing such work.
- Monitors, logs and prioritizes problems and ensures timely resolution.
- Oversees and manages software licensing to ensure legal compliance.
- Maintains documentation related to the support of PC-based hardware and software.
- Stays current and maintains a high level of knowledge of business applications.
- Removes old equipment, installs new equipment, and performs data migration.
- Leads and/or participates in special projects.
- Manages and directs IT contractors and vendors.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Technical experience may include, but not be limited to: Windows 11 Administration, Microsoft MCP Certification covering Windows 11, Microsoft Word and Excel / Office products; MAC products.
- Understanding of networking hardware, infrastructure and protocols.
- Previous experience with administrative tasks in Active Directory, Azure, Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012, and Exchange 2010 are a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThe IT Director provides direction, coordinates and reviews the work of contractors and vendors to ensure it is cost effective and meets the required standards, goals and objectives. The IT Director works with contractors and vendors to develop and implement IT projects.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEThe IT Director must have a technical degree or equivalent training and five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the general duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and to use sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer equipment. Requires light physical work associated with moving and installing computer equipment and cable pulling. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers. Requires speaking and hearing ability to communicate in person and over the phone. Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
