TITLE: Technology Support Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum associate degree in technology and/or equivalent experience
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
JOB GOAL: The Technology Support Specialist must be a skilled communicator, able to learn and support educational technologies in support of the district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leadership and Vision
Works closely with the Technology Director/ Data Integration Specialist to support the vision for how technology will be used to meet the district's strategic goals. Have a strong ethical and integrity mindset.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Ability to manage and prioritize the technology needs of their schools.
Interpersonal skills and a willingness to work closely with all constituents.
Ability to adapt known technologies to new users and be able to explain how technology resources support the educational process. Understanding of the change process and effective approaches to facilitating change.
4. Systems Management
Coordinate and ensure the implementation of all tasks related to the technical systems installed in the schools and the integration of technology into every facet of operations which include the student information system, and active directory accounts.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Knowledge and expertise about the software and performance standards for all aspects of the IT system. Strong technical background accompanied by a personal commitment to ongoing research and learning.
6. Business Leadership
Assists the Director of Technology with purchasing decisions and foster good relationships with vendors, school staff, and other key stakeholders.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Comfort researching products and assist in making purchasing decisions when requested by the Director of Technology.
7. Education and Training
Coordinates on-going, purposeful professional development for school staff in the use of new technologies.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Current understanding of technical best practices and the appropriate uses of technology to support high-caliber technology support. Awareness of technology-related professional growth needs of the school's staff and the ability to respond to these needs, including providing just in time training opportunities.
8. Ethics and Policies
Assists with the implementation and enforcement of policies and educational programs related to the social, legal and ethical issues involved in technology use throughout the district.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Knowledge about laws and legal issues related to copyright, privacy, filtering and other aspects of school technology use.
Awareness of other relevant issues including safety, technology-related health concerns and guidelines for fair and ethical implementation of technology.
Commitment to modeling responsible technology use and working closely with all constituents. Be able to work ethically with confidential information.
9. Communication Systems
Assists and administers the district web sites, web site management, email system, state reporting, district communication systems, and other forms of communication technology. Effective communication with all staff and other key stakeholders.
Knowledge or Skills Required:
Working knowledge of various communication tools
Understanding of web design and support issues and the staffing needed to keep district and school sites updated and operational.
Knowledge about converging technologies and new options for enhancing communication through technology. Strong communication skills
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month employee. Salary and benefits are established by the Administrative Agreement.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated on an annual basis according to the School Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Staff.
