Job Description
JOB TITLE: Technology Support Specialist CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology PAY GRADE: TECH 6 / 235 Days LOCATION: Admin Bldg - Information Services DATE REVISED: 9/8/2020
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Service and maintain computers, servers, printers, and related equipment throughout the district. Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
* Associate degree or high-level certification in computer related field preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* Extensive mechanical and electrical aptitude
* Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
* Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers, servers, and peripherals including printers, scanners, and data projectors
* Ability to install and maintain structured cabling
Experience:
* One to three years in computer-related field preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Repair and Maintenance
* Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
* Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
* Install and configure software as needed.
* Give technical assistance and in-service training as needed.
* Evaluate equipment regarding obsolescence and school district use for cost efficiency of repairs.
* Assist with maintaining computer management software
* Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications equipment.
* Assist all district staff with various technology-related needs.

* Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
* Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
Other
* Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner.
* Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with generally accepted community standards.

* HP& Dell brand desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, and servers
* Cisco IP telephony equipment
* Various third-party computer and network products and software

* Occasional prolonged or irregular hours of work

* Moderate lifting and carrying; 15- 45 lbs
* Intermittent bending and stooping
* Reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, repetitive hand motions
* Prolonged use of computer

* Normal computer room environment
* Frequent district-wide travel
