Job Description:
DescriptionThe Teen Educator is responsible for the planning and operation of the DHA program, including the implementation of evidence-based, teen pregnancy prevention (TPP) curricula in in-school and clinic/community settings and the referral of adolescents to youth-friendly sexual health services and community resources. The Teen Educator will facilitate the Delta Futures planning process, coordinate efforts among other Peer Educators, and oversee day-to-day operations. Extensive training will be provided on one of three TPP curricula approved by the Office of Adolescent Health. In addition to being trained on program delivery, the employee will also receive training on pedagogy, which will provide skills on how to implement interactive activities, model skills, and discuss sexual topics comfortably.The Teen Educator will conduct all Delta Futures TPP sessions, utilize implementation fidelity tools provided by each TPP program's developers to document, and refer program participants to specific sexual health services and community resources according to participants' needs. The employee will foster and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies, DHA partners, health care organizations, school personnel, students and community members. MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Public Health or related field
  • Two years related experience
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills required
  • Computer Literacy required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in activities and strategic planning for the Delta Health Alliance Delta Futures TPP initiative, including completion of TPP programmatic training and implementation of TPP programs in various settings.
  • Ensure TPP programming sessions are inclusive to all groups, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation.
  • Ensure that all sessions follow curriculum guidance and are taught in sequence and on time.
  • Coordinate and refer adolescents to available resources to maximize the effectiveness of the Delta Health Alliance Delta Futures network of sexual health providers and community resources.
  • Represent the Delta Health Alliance in collaborative community-wide activities while developing positive working relationships with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Participate in formalized tracking and reporting systems to maintain program fidelity, identify program strengths, recommend program changes, and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
