Job Description:
Summary: Perform routine member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, and payments in accordance to company policy. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position can be full time or part time. Employee must be available to work a schedule as written by supervisor to meet credit union operations. Including a Saturday workday. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accurately perform routine member transactions which include, but not limited to:
  • Receive cash/checks for deposit. Verify amounts and endorsements.
  • Disperse cash/checks. Verify account balances prior to dispersing.
  • Receive and process Visa, Loan and Mortgage payments.
  • Receive and process stop payments, night drop and mail transactions.
  • Transfer between accounts.
Assist members with account inquiries by reviewing statements, transaction histories, and other inquiry screens. Provide members with applicable forms for their transactions. Assist them in properly completing these forms. Accurately balance currency, coin, and checks at end of shift, remitting daily work to supervisor. Maintain record of transactions by entering all information into the credit union software, providing members with a receipt. Answer phones and responds to member requests, problems and complaints, and/or directs them to the proper person for assistance. Maintain and secure teller drawer cash limits set forth by the credit union. Accounting for cash received and disbursed. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain strict confidentiality with member information. Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED) with six to twelve months of customer service.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred.
  • Accurate typing and keyboarding skills.
  • Familiar with all equipment used in word-processing, as well as, laser printers, scanner/fax machines, 10-key calculators and cash dispensers/recyclers is preferred.
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing credit union members and projecting a positive image as a representative for the credit union.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information on a one-on-one basis with members, potential members and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve minor problems in variable situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. If the position is at a branch that has a coin machine the employee may lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Lifting coin bags
  • Lifting totes
Work Environment: The employee's environment is well lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
