The School of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology places a strong emphasis on scientific research, discovery & innovation, and interdisciplinary education. Job Summary

Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.

Job Duty 2 -

Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.

Job Duty 3 -

Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.

Job Duty 4 -

May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.

Job Duty 5 -

Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.

Job Duty 6 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

The TEMP Research Technician will provide essential technical support for conducting tests and experiments in a research lab in School of Psychology focused on studying neuroplasticity in visually impaired individuals (Cortical Resilience Lab). The lab uses a combination of behavioral and MRI techniques. This position will interact with academic and research faculty, lab staff, and collaborators. The role requires attention to detail, proficiency with laboratory equipment, and the ability to maintain and organize data and records. Previous experience working with clinical populations is preferred.

Key responsibilities

* Gather, compile, and summarize data from scientific tests and experiments related to behavioral testing and MRI studies.

* Collect, prepare, and organize data in various experiments, including behavioral and MRI-based studies.

* Prepare statistical analyses of experimental results and maintain accurate and detailed records of analyses and outcomes.

* Operate and maintain various equipment used in the lab, including behavioral testing devices.

* Assist in other duties related to research as assigned, ensuring smooth operations within the lab.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Up to two years of job related experience

Proposed Salary

This is a temporary Research/Lab support position working about 10-20 hours a week, anticipated to last until July 2025. The salary is $16.00 per hour.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications is required.
