The City of Steamboat Springs is pleased to announce a job opening in our Finance Department as a Temporary Accounting Specialist. Put your talents and skills to work to contribute to our vibrant community! GENERAL PURPOSE This is a temporary, non-benefited position with a planned duration of one year. Performs routine clerical and accounting work for Finance Accounting division. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Controller. The qualified individual Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while espousing safety at all times. Accounts Payable Administrates and processes all weekly Accounts Payable processing. Revenue Accounting Assists the Accountant with weekly recording of revenue from City point of sale systems. This involves exporting information from point-of-sale systems, reconciling and preparing journal entries for approval and import into City's main general ledger accounting system. General Ledger
- Gathers and compiles invoice and receipt backup for grant funds requests, and capital asset accounting.
- Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
Other Duties As assigned. We are seeking the following qualifications DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree with specialized course work in general office practices such as financial spreadsheets, accounting, data processing, and Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro) Ability to learn and operate effectively in a range of new, specialized computer applications Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize competing deadlines and projects. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of modern office administration; working knowledge of modern records management techniques; skill in operation of listed tools and equipment Ability to work independently and carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to accurately record and maintain records. Other EOE. Compensation range is $28.10 - $40.75/hour and placement within the range is dependent upon relevant experience and qualifications. The City of Steamboat Springs offers Seasonal employees who work 20 hours a week or more limited benefits as part of their total compensation package.
