Position Information
Job Title Temporary Cashier 2023-2024 Department Office of Tax and Revenue Services - 40500 Pay Grade Job Category Temporary Job Summary
Responsible to the Assistant Bursar for advising, transacting, and assisting all undergraduate, graduate, college of medicine, college of pharmacy programs, and departments on financial transactions, including tuition and fee payment, departmental deposits, online payments, payment plans, and refunds from admission to graduation.
* Serves as an advocate for students and the primary point of contact for the Bursar's Office.
* Advises prospective undergraduate, graduate, college of medicine, and college of pharmacy students and parents in financial matters, including fee payment, financial status, and refunds.
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
* Operates a cash drawer, issues official receipts, and makes change as required, checks for completeness and mathematical accuracy, posts collections, and other fiscal and statistical records according to standard procedures, operates calculating machine, or other office machinery in the performance of routine clerical duties.
* Assists all students with housing information including deposits and assessments.
* Works with students to resolve issues related to installment plans.
* Works directly with a campus community by serving as the front office representative during office hours located in the main office
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of university admissions, registration, fee payment, and student accounts.
* Knowledge of computer systems and programs including Microsoft Office/Windows and internet browsers.
* Ability to communicate effectively with groups or individuals.
* Ability to counsel students and parents regarding financial matters.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
* Ability to solve problems.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to perform research.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED
* One or more years of cashier experience in a high-volume setting.
* Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
* Able to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications Salary 13.50 per hour
