Posting Type Non-Student Position Title Temporary Employment Specialist Position Number HURH10 Description of Responsibilities and DutiesTemporary Employment Management / Processing* Manages the Temporary Employment process and serves as the primary contact for customers regarding temporary hiring, position classification and salary determination, assignment extensions, and separations.* Processes the temporary transactions for accurate and timely pay and/or system updates.* Enters actions in Banner and posting in PeopleAdmin.* Makes independent decisions on what is the best approach to handle all transactions and functions related to temporary employment.* Works closely with Supervisor and Classification and Compensation Team as needed for support and instruction as needed.* Evaluates patterns to identify problems and make a recommendation.* Commits to continuous improvement to eliminate any reoccurring bottlenecks that slow down the monthly and biweekly payroll cycle.* Stays abreast of State policies and any new policy changes that may impact the monthly and biweekly payroll process.* Works with payroll and Faculty Affairs (adjuncts hires) to ensure all temporary hires are processed for biweekly and month-end payroll.* Provides consultative services to staff and customers regarding appropriate position classification and compensation for each job assignment with clear communication.* Provides temporary training to departments, hiring managers, and through the Professional Development program as needed and/or requested.Onboarding* Process and analyze criminal background checks for a temporary employee* Manage the temporary orientation process.* Process and verify documents for E-Verify and* I-9 forms for new employee hires.* Responsible for ensuring new hires completed all required documents prior to beginning work.* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.Other Duties as assignedSchool/Department InformationThe University of North Carolina School of the Arts provides gifted emerging artists with the experience, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in their disciplines and in their lives, and it serves and enriches the cultural and economic prosperity of the people of North Carolina and the nation. This position will collaborate with Deans, Department Heads, Faculty Affairs, Budget Department, and Hiring Managers regularly to fulfill all hiring needs as it relates to Temporary Employment positions. This Temporary Employment Specialist will be responsible for managing the process for temporary hires and processing for payroll. This position will also be the main point of contact for the Human Resource Department. The position will post temporary positions, facilitate the hiring process/paperwork, extend job offers, and handle the Temporary Orientation and Temporary Onboarding process. Also, the position will enter information into PeopleAdmin and Banner. Incumbent must be knowledgeable of HR best practices.
