Classification Title Temporary Technical Paraprofessional FLSA Non-Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.0 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary
This position will work both indoors and outdoors assisting field and laboratory work for peach, blueberry and grape research projects. Fieldwork includes, but is not limited to, helping to plant, maintain, harvest, and process field studies. Work in the field and greenhouse will be done in hot conditions. Laboratory work includes, but is not limited to, processing samples, dissections, extraction, and others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is desired, and Excel spreadsheet data entry is also expected. The position receives specific work instructions at the beginning of each new task and the work is closely supervised until the employee is capable of consistently performing the task.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
A minimum requirement of high school or equivalent combination of education and work experience in horticulture or a related area
Valid Georgia driver's license
Other training will be provided as appropriate
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work with or without supervision.
Physical Demands
Bend and lift at least 50 pounds. Use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Work in a laboratory for multiple hours a day. Duties also require intermittent out-of-town travel to research plots during the workday.
