Job Description:
Dutchess Community College seeks applicants for a full-time Performing Arts faculty member to teach Theatre and Dance courses in a vibrant and growing Performing Arts program. These courses are offered during both day and night time slots during Fall and Spring semesters, with a diverse student body of both Performing Arts majors and non-majors. The selected individual will begin teaching in the program August 2025.
Primary tasks to include:
* Direct and/or choreograph mainstage musical theatre productions.
* Teach Theatre classes in areas of expertise, such as Acting, Auditioning, Script Analysis, Musical Theatre, Theatre History, etc.
* Teach Dance courses in areas of expertise, such as Foundations of Dance, Hip-Hop, Modern, African Dance, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, etc.
* Work with students who possess a wide variety of experience on and off stage.
* Design and oversee Dance curriculum development with an emphasis on diversity.
The full-time instructor will be responsible for the following job duties:
* Enthusiastically collaborate with a committed team comprised of Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Communications, and Speech faculty.
* Supervise part-time faculty in Dance.
* Assist in Performing Arts season selection with an emphasis on representation that is reflective of DCC's diverse student body.
* Assist in growing the Performing Arts program through recruitment and development.
* Assist in determining that lessons and lesson plans are in conformity with DCC's approved PFA (Performing Arts) curriculum.
* Assist as necessary in multiple productions/events each year, including student club events for the student theatre club, student dance club, etc.
* Evaluate student performance to determine satisfactory progress is being made to meet DCC's academic performance standards.
* Maintain office hours, and/or studio hours to support students with coursework outside of class time.
* Work with the PFA Program Chair to evaluate and improve Dance and Theatre courses and the Performing Arts program overall.
* Maintain an active profile in the local community, curating relationships with local schools and arts organizations.
* Notify Program Chair and/or Campus Facilities of any building issues in a timely manner;
Requirements:
* A Masters degree in Theatre, Music, or Dance or substantial professional experience.
* Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) degree or PhD preferred, with a concentration in Musical Theatre and/or Dance
* Experience directing and/or choreographing Musical Theatre at the collegiate and/or professional level.
* Professional experience in Theatre and/or Dance required.
* College level teaching experience required.
* Experience with high school recruitment and/or collaboration preferred.
* Experience with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) preferred.

Salary: $63,616 - $82,712
