These positions will assist with the processing and intake of Food and Nutrition Services and Medicaid program applications. Responsibilities may include interviewing clients in person or over the phone, obtaining required information, completing initial application for eligibility, verifying information obtained, explaining program requirements and options, advising or referring clients to other services as appropriate and assisting clients with other aspects of the eligibility process in various public assistance programs. * Background Check is required.Examples of Essential FunctionsA position may not include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be assigned. Determines and/or re-determines applicants'/clients' eligibility for assigned public assistance program. Interviews clients, obtains required information, completes initial applications, verifies the information obtained, and determines eligibility; or completes scheduled program reviews. Explains program(s) requirements and options and advises or refers clients to other program services as appropriate. Supervision Assignments are provided by indicating generally what is to be done. Quality and quantity expectations are provided. Additional details are provided for new, difficult, or unusual problems. The classification typically does not supervise. Distinguishing Factors This classification is the beginning classification in the Income Maintenance classification series. Work at this level reflects the performance of one or two functions within the eligibility process such as interviewing the client, obtaining the required information, completing initial applications, verifying the information obtained, determining eligibility; or completing scheduled program reviews. Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with diverse populations. Ability to use information technology to enter client information, determine eligibility, make changes in client cases, and create and maintain documentation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in a human services field or social work; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND two (2) years' related experience in human services; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above.
