Working location: Norfolk Naval Shipyard$22.85/hr.The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining site premises by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Assures quality by planning, assigning, and directing work assigned to staff; inspects completed work for conformance to standards; appraising, rewarding, and disciplining staff; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Maintains cleaning supplies and equipment by making requisitions, submitting requests for repairs to the Project Manager, issuing supplies and equipment to staff.
- Resolves workers' problems or consults with superiors.
- Assures adequate staffing by monitoring and addressing tardiness and attendance of staff. Reviews requests for leave and makes recommendations to Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager for approval according to Didlake policy.
- Monitors employees' time cards for accuracy.
- Interacts with Rehabilitation staff to assure individual program plans are followed and appropriate accommodations are made for disabled staff.
- Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; giving feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance; modeling dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
- This position requires a specialty in floor care knowledge, for hard surface, resilient flooring and the ability to supervise floor equipment operators, and the knowledge and understanding of that equipment in a commercial and/or federal space.
- Assures appropriate conduct and decorum as dictated by Didlake policy and procedures.
- Assists in interviewing potential employees and makes recommendations for hiring.
- Assures safety of employees by monitoring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy.
- Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.

- H.S. Diploma/GED and 1 year of supervisory experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of 3 years prior experience in custodial services in a supervisory capacity.
- Possess the ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate credential/background check as required by the contract.
- Must have a valid and insurable driver's license.
- Familiarity with the safe operation and use of industrial cleaning products and equipment.
- Must possess strong communication skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence, and present information to groups of employees.
- Ability to interact, train and resolve the personnel issues of maintenance staff with assorted disabilities.
- Must also project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and Didlake clients.
