About the Position

Each department may require a different set of skills. Here is a basic list of responsibilities you may perform:

+ Laboratory and facilities management, such as maintenance and scheduling.

+ Grant and budget management

+ Conduct purchasing, do monthly requisitioning, track orders, handle vendor issues, and research new equipment needed for lab

+ Assist and teach undergraduate research students in laboratory techniques; assist with undergraduate research projects

+ Assist faculty with research projects using complex research techniques and specialized scientific equipment

+ Plan and conduct field work to gather data and/or collect samples

+ Provide on-site supervision for students or assistants in conducting research and using specialized scientific equipment

+ Prepare laboratory reagents and set up laboratory spaces for courses

+ Prepare laboratory reagents, maintain laboratory stocks, maintain laboratory inventory

+ Managing research collections that may include cataloguing, cleaning, labeling, storage and maintenance of specimens or objects.

+ Conduct experiments in support of independent research

+ Design experiments in coordination with faculty member, post-doctoral students and other lab members

+ Collect, evaluate, and analyze data utilizing statistical and analytical programs

+ Draw conclusions about collected data and sampling

+ Draft/edit scientific publications on data collected during experimental projects; prepare posters for conferences on research projects

Required Qualifications

+ High school graduate or equivalent. Most positions require additional specialized education or certifications.

+ Basic understanding of Microsoft office and statistical or data programs utilized by the laboratory.

+ Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.

+ Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in specialized field.

+ Six months of relevant laboratory work experience and experience in materials and methods utilized in projects to be performed by the position.

+ Two years of laboratory/research experience.

+ Advanced understanding of Excel.

+ Advanced understanding of statistical modeling

SalaryDependent upon position

Bargaining UnitTemporary employees who work more than 350 hours in a twelve month consecutive period from your original date of hire will be included in an appropriate bargaining unit. Bargaining unit assignment dependent upon position
