Our client, a top international financial company with offices in NYC, is seeking a temporary Manager of Legal Operations to cover for a leave. The role will manage a team of 6.
This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing our legal operations, ensuring compliance, and mitigating operational risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal operations, operational risk management, compliance, outside counsel management, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks within the legal department. Develop and implement risk management strategies and processes.
- Compliance: Ensure all legal operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Monitor and report on compliance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Outside Counsel Management: Oversee the selection, engagement, and management of outside counsel. Negotiate and manage contracts, monitor performance, and control costs.
- Project Management: Lead and manage legal projects from inception to completion. Develop project plans, allocate resources, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the legal operations team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, and support professional development.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve legal operations processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices and innovative solutions.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the legal operations budget. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial accountability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in legal operations, with a focus on operational risk management, compliance, outside counsel management, and project management.
Compensation - $60-80/hour depending on experience. (Or equivalent weekly salary)
