Salary: $16.06 Hourly Location : Toms River, NJ Job Type: Temporary Job Number: T-310-24-82-885 Department: Toms River - Circulation Division: Toms River Circulation Opening Date: 07/03/2024 Closing Date: 7/12/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Description Schedule varies, up to 21 hours per week. This is a temporary 6 month position that once trained the employee will be sent to various branches where there is a need. Employee eligible to apply to permanent positions after 90 days. Examples of Duties Check in/out/renew library materials Calculate and collect fines Register customers for library cards Assist customers in finding materials Answers patron inquiries pertaining library hours, offices and personnel, and the availability and ability to place holds on popular or new publications. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work harmoniously with peers, subordinates, and customers by actively creating an atmosphere of respect and inclusion. Ability to understand and follow Ocean County Library policies and procedures. Performs filing/shelving/searching tasks involving the use of the Dewey Decimal Classification System and alphabetical filing systems beyond the initial letter of a word. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the library including word processing, the library circulation and catalog modules, telephone system, photocopiers, fax machines, etc. Education and Experience Requirements License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Sick leave benefits per New Jersey Sick Leave Law (2018) - 1 hours for every 30 hours worked
