Description:The New England College of Optometry (NECO) prepares the next generation of eye care providers, educators, and innovators through a rigorous curriculum and extensive clinical experiences. Located in the heart of Boston's Back Bay, the College is a small, independent graduate institution that currently enrolls students from 34 states and 8 countries. The College has its teaching location at 424 Beacon Street, Boston, and three owned and operated eye clinics (Boston and Roslindale, and at Perkins).NECO has an exciting opportunity in our Boston Clinic for a Patient Care Coordinator. NECO Center for Eye Care is the affiliated clinical system of the New England College of Optometry, a professional graduate school in Boston's Back Bay. The PCC position will be located at 4199 Washington St #2, Roslindale. This is a temporary part-time position that reports to the Lead Patient Care Coordinator.The Patient Care Coordinator must have a strong professional work ethic and be willing and able to manage multiple priorities. The PCC must also be a caring individual with excellent customer service skills and exceptional attention to detail to work at the front desk assisting patients must be proactive, and creative, and have a high level of energy and enthusiasm.Patient Care Coordinator ResponsibilitiesAnswer incoming telephone calls, greet and check in/check out patients in a professional, courteous, and timely mannerAcquire full knowledge of patient practice management softwareSchedule patients for appointments, follow up with no shows, and communicate any billing issues prior to appointmentsAccurately obtain and enter all demographic informationCollect insurance co-pays or self-pay balances. Communicate with the billing department regarding issues and clarifications involving billingReview billing benefits tab to ensure that appropriate procedures and diagnosis codes have been designated by providerMaintain and ensure HIPAA compliance with patient medical records and personal health informationPrepare paperwork for the next clinic day next day, confirm appointments, reconcile cash box on a daily basis. Promote culturally competent care and proactively make provisions for linguistically competent careRespond to staff doctor needs before, during, and after patient examUnderstanding the specifics related to various appointment types, proactively seek patient referrals and prior authorizations when neededNotify Specialty Care Coordinator about all contact lens orders and dispense contact lenses to patientsThis position works at a computer station for extended periods of timeOther duties as requiredNECO is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.Salary: $23/hourThe NECO Roslindale Eye Care Clinic has free parking available to its staff.Requirements:Patient Care Coordinator Requirements:At least one full year demonstrated experience in a customer service setting, preferably six months of receptionist experience in a health care setting requiredSpanish or Creole proficiency preferredExperience in eye care practice administration highly preferredKnowledge of reception tasks, office policies/procedures, paperwork neededKnowledge of customer service concepts and techniques neededHigh school diploma requiredSkills and AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and courteously with patients, families and co-workersAbility to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other visitorsAbility to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions in order to prepare medical records, collect payments and schedule appointmentsAbility to review and enter patient information accuratelyExcellent ability to use technology including typing skills, scanning, faxing, familiarity with G (Google) Suite and Microsoft OfficeFollowing the HIPAA guidelines, exchange patient-related information with a variety of clinic personnel.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.Ability and willingness to drive between locations if necessary (Commonwealth Ave. Boston and Washington Street, Roslindale)Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environmentPM23PI9352d4b42aaf-26289-#######6
