Client Overview:
Our client, one of the largest vertically run ophthalmology administrative services organizations in the mid-Atlantic region is seeking a medical receptionist to join their fast-paced office. Our client has over 80 locations and is seeking a Temporary Patient Service Representative who has prior experience in the health care industry, strong customer service skills, and is seeking career progression.

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Temporary Patient Service Representative that can work well under pressure and takes initiative to problem solve with little supervision. The Temporary Patient Service Representative should have a welcoming demeanor and will support the Office Manager. The Temporary Patient Service Representative will be responsible for inbound and outbound access patient interactions, scheduling logistics, and will act as a liaison between physicians, patients, and Clinical teams.
Responsibilities of the Patient Service Representative:
* Assisting the manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
* Answering or referring inquiries.
* Patient intake and check-out procedures.
* Obtaining all appropriate patient consent forms.
* Scheduling patient visits and tests.
* Collecting co-pays and balances.
* Utilize your general understanding of the billing process and insurance process.
* Verify insurance information, benefits, referrals, and insurance referral information by performing eligibility and benefits.
* Requesting prior-authorizations.
* Interfacing with commercial and federal/state payers to verify patient coverage.
* Entering patient data into PMS and EMR systems.
* Filing medical charts.
* Maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
* Assisting other administrative/clinical staff as needed.
* Compliance with all practice procedures and protocols.
* Provide immediate service recovery by taking ownership of any problems that may arise and resolving them utilizing appropriate rationale and understanding of when to alert and involve Office Manager or Front Desk Supervisor.
* Provide patients with and interpret patient rights and responsibilities.
Qualifications for the Patient Service Representative:
* 3 years experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
* Experience utilizing EMR systems is preferred.
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Previous medical experience required.
* Commute to other local offices is required.
Education Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED is required.
* Bachelor's degree is preferred.
