ob Title: Brass SpecialistReports to: HS/MS Head Band DirectorCalendar: 1-2 times per monthHours per Week: 1-2 hours every 3-4 weeksDept./School: High School and Middle School CampusesPRIMARY PURPOSEAs an integral part of the DSISD Band staff, Woodwind/Brass Specialist assists designing and implementing a comprehensive grade 6-12 Woodwind/Brass pedagogy program in conjunction with the HS and MS Director of Bands.QUALIFICATIONSSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong leader in wind performance and best practices
• Excellent skills in wind pedagogy and performance
• Ability to work with students
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:Extensive experience beginning through early development of young wind playersMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESEssential Functions

Assist in implementing instrumental pedagogy.

Work with both classes and small groups

Prepare specialized lessons specific to instrument needs

Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.

Maintain confidentiality regarding student and coworker information and as required by FERPA.

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
