PARK & FACILITY MAINTENANCE I
(16 years of age or older)
This classification is the entry level of the park & facility maintenance series working under immediate supervision.
Duties:
* Prepares & maintains city ball fields, medians, & public facilities.
* Performs manual labor in the care, minor construction & maintenance of facilities & outdoor spaces.
* Maintains ball fields including watering, top dressing, weed removal, painting, fence repair, dirt work & related duties.
* Provides custodial services including cleaning & repairing floors, restrooms, & removal of trash.
* Administers basic first aid, if needed.
* Responds in emergency situations within scope of training.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
* Eighth grade graduate.
* CPR & First Aid certifications desired.
Experience:
* Work experience in general landscape & grounds maintenance desired.
* Mulching, weeding, leaf removal & other general light duty work.
* Ability to perform work using non-powered hand tools utilized in landscape maintenance & repair work.
Equipment:
* Non-powered hand tools, leaf blowers, Linelazer equipment.

* Must have excellent problem solving skills & demonstrate good judgement when completing job duties.

* Sixteen (16) year olds will work in a non-driving capacity.
* Seventeen (17) year olds must possess a valid driver's license to operate utility vehicles & golf carts on city property & non-public access passageways.

* Must have reliable transportation to-and-from work.
* Must be available to work shifts.
* Must attend required trainings & meetings.
* Required to review posted event calendars.
* Must follow scheduling protocols & be able to obtain weekly work schedule.
* Must follow time & attendance guidelines must adhere to payroll requirements.
* Must respond in a timely manner to all forms of communication regarding City of Salina employment by way of phone calls, emails, texts, etc.

PARK & FACILITY MAINTENANCE II
(18 years of age or older)
This classification is mid-level of the park & facility maintenance series working under general supervision.
Duties:
* Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I staff, as needed.
* Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I staff in the absence of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman.
* Performs minor repairs to equipment.
* Performs routine maintenance & equipment safety inspection.
* Applies practices relating to safe equipment operation & maintenance.
* Prepares & maintains city ball fields, medians, & public facilities.
* Performs manual labor in the care, minor construction & maintenance of facilities & outdoor spaces.
* Maintains ball fields including seeding, mowing, watering, aerification, top dressing, planting flowers, weed removal, painting, fence repair, dirt work & related duties.
* Provides custodial services, including cleaning & repairing floors, restrooms, & removal of trash.
* Administers basic first aid, if needed.
* Responds in emergency situations within scope of training.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
* High school diploma or G.E.D.

* Two (2) years' work experience in general landscape maintenance.
* Supervisory experience preferred.
* Grounds maintenance & equipment operation experience desired, minor construction, maintenance work, mowing, & tree care.
* Ability to perform intermediate to advanced work using equipment & tools utilized in landscape maintenance & repair work.
Equipment: Zero turn field groomer, UTV vehicles, tractor, Linelazer equipment.
Hand Tools: Chain saws, blowers, power tools, hedge trimmers, sprayers, edgers.

* Oversees daily operations including supervision of any seasonal maintenance crews assigned to the site.
* Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff, as needed.
* Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff in the absence of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman.

* Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from May/June to August.
* May include variable late night shifts due to leagues & tournaments.
* Must be able to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays (ie Memorial Weekend, Fourth of July, Labor Day Weekend) & special events (ie Smoky Hill River Festival, private parties).
