Temporary - Security Guard (Pool)Job no: 499500 Work type: Temporary Location: Nashville Categories: StaffTitle: Temporary - Security Guard (Pool)POSITION SUMMARYProvides general security services to the campus and assists campus police officers with routine patrols and other security measures.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPatrols campus by foot, bicycle or motor vehicle. Identifies and reports suspected crimes, accidents or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature. Reports accidents involving persons or property, reporting probable cause of accidents, pursuing appropriate course of action and informing proper authorities as required. Provides security for special events. Writes citations for parking violations.Provides direction and/or instruction to faculty, staff and students in unusual or emergency situations. Participates in campus training for emergencies and for law enforcement officers. Monitors classrooms, offices and buildings for safety and/or maintenance concerns. Maintains and utilizes security equipment. Maintains department records and prepares reports. May testify in court or during legal proceedings as needed.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or GEDValid driver's licensePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrior security or law enforcement experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to work in varying conditions, including indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Good customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population. Demonstrated self-restraint in challenging and/or difficult situations. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to occasionally travel throughout the service area as needed.Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hourWork Hours: Up to 28 hours per week.
