Job Description:
The Stanley G. Falk School is one of the largest and most successful Special Education Day Schools in all of New York State.The Stanley G Falk School has 4 locations that serve grades K-12.Join our elementary team today at our K-3 Mullen Campus.As a Teacher for the Stanley G Falk School you will provide instruction congruent with the New York State Learning Standards as well as the students' Individual Education Plan to enable students to reach their fullest physical, social-emotional, psychological, behavioral and intellectual potential.As the Teacher your day will include:-Developing lessons that reflect New York State Learning Standards to meet students' Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals and objectives-Implementing provisions of IEP and Behavior Implementation Plan -Assessing students, both informally and formally, to provide an individualized classroom program-Planning and initiating activities to promote learning using specialized small group and individualized instruction-Creating a classroom learning environment that is conducive to the student's intellectual, social, and emotional development; considers the IEP for the student and mitigating factors, including specific systems of motivation for students-Preparing, administering, and grading tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress-Keeping accurate attendance records and other reports/records pertinent to the program-Assisting and counseling students in making realistic assessments of their abilities in establishing educational and occupational goals-Serving as a role model for students, represent appropriate behavior, anger management, and problem-solving skills-Directing assigned teacher aide(s) to support instruction and maintain classroom behavior-Creating strategies for maintaining orderly classroom behavior on an individual and group basis-Utilizing appropriate techniques of behavior management and crisis interventions as indicated in -Therapeutic Crisis Intervention guidelines; implements strategies to address escalating behaviors, i.e. time-out, discussion, conflict resolution-All other duties as assignedQualifications for the role:-Students with Disabilities New York Teacher certification is required (***or attending a program that leads to certification)-Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management-Strong written and oral communication skills-Operate a computer to perform work, maintain records and prepare reports-Valid driver license is preferredCompetitive Salary starting at $44,156 / school year (actual rate of pay is dependent on experience)Shift: Monday through Friday 7:35 AM - 2:35 PMThis position is temporary and expected to last a few months with no guarantee of continued employmentSome of the many benefits of working for the Stanley G Falk School:-Paid holidays & school breaks-Sick & Personal Time-Health, dental and vision Insurance, with plan options-Employer paid life insurance-Health savings account with agency contributions quarterly-Supplemental insurance: short-term disability, long-term disability-Paid professional development-Employee referral program-403b with 4% contribution-Work with an outstanding, supportive team!-Mentor Program-Annual wage increases, with average increases ranging from 2-9%-Federal Student Loan Forgiveness-Small class sizes (6 students with 1 teacher and 1 teacher aide)Stanley G Falk is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
