As a member of the hotel's Taverna Banfi Restaurant Team, provide a warm welcome and outstanding personalized service while serving meals to our guests according to established rules of etiquette and service.
Host Duties include:
* Greet and seat guests as they enter the restaurant
* Take and confirm reservations, pre-assign tables, ensure the floor configuration matches the reservation
* Assign server sections and rotate seating to ensure service quality
* Answer the phone using established phone etiquette
* Know how to place guests on hold, transfer guests correctly, and check messages
* Be able to take to go orders and room service orders over the phone and input the order into the point of sale system as necessary
* Ensure menus for correct service period are stocked and clean
* Know the parking policy of the hotel and communicate any issues to the bell stand
* Be able to direct guests to all functions in the hotel using the daily events sheet.
Server Duties Include:
* Serve guests in Banfi's Restaurant. Duties include:
+ Being an expert on our menu - capable of suggesting courses and answering all questions about food preparation and content. Must have a thorough understanding of the importance of allergies and dietary restrictions.
+ Serving alcoholic beverages, making specialized cocktails and coffees.
+ Entering orders through our MICROS point of sales system
+ Presenting guest checks, collecting secure payment and bussing the table following the meal.
+ Fulfilling any additional requests throughout the meal
* Perform other duties in support of the restaurant, including: working room service shifts as needed, serving Dining Event Orders as needed, delivering amenities, expediting, and setup/cleanup side duties.
* Responsible for presenting check to guest and receiving payment by following proper check handling procedures.
* Perform any additional duties assigned by management, including orienting and training student employees, participating in team meetings, and performing special assignments.
**Required Qualifications:**
* The ideal candidate is someone who is high energy and very passionate about providing hospitality and service. This individual takes pride in presenting a professional, well-groomed appearance and is motivated to be a valuable contributor to our team of professional and student staff.
* Basic reading and writing skills required
* 1-3 years of wait experience preferred
* The physical demands for this position require a Server to:
+ Be in good physical condition, capable of being on feet for long periods of time.
+ Be able to carry dishes and trays weighing up to 30lbs.
* Ability to work well with the public
* Committed to high standards.
* Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends, nights and holidays.
* Must adhere to the dress code and appearance policy of the hotel.
