PTO

* Pro Rata Basis: Accrual rates for employees working 20-30 hours per week are on a pro rata basis.

Starting Wage

* Salary: The starting salary for this position is $32.00 per hour, depending on experience.

* Funding: This is a grant-funded position, contingent upon ongoing funding from the Crisis Diversion Grant. Current funding is secured for a minimum of three years, from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027, with anticipated extensions and/or renewals.

Schedule

* Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility needed on occasion.

Training

* Orientation: Alternatives provides thorough orientation and training for all new staff. You can expect a one-week orientation, where you will learn all about Alternatives and be prepared for your role. This first week is scheduled from 9 AM to 5 PM at our Alternatives Training Center.

To be a successful Tenancy Support Specialist, you will need the following skills and qualifications:

* Education: A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

* Experience: At least one year of experience working with individuals who have mental health or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

* Knowledge: Understanding of the housing market and the specific barriers offenders face in obtaining and sustaining housing.

* Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer and word-processing skills, with demonstrated experience in documentation and record keeping.

* Licenses: A valid state driver's license.

* Compliance: Ability to pass a federal workplace drug test and a background check process.

These skills and qualifications will help you effectively support individuals in need of housing and contribute to the success of the Alpha House team.

About the team

The Tenancy Support Specialist (TSS) will be part of the Alpha House team, under the leadership of an experienced Director with nearly 9 years of experience at the Agency and a strong background in corrections. The TSS will collaborate closely with other Alpha House team members and work directly with the Transitional Living Case Managers.

What will you do in this position?

If you are passionate about helping others and making a positive impact on your community, this role is perfect for you! As agents of change, we work as part of a dedicated team to help residents succeed by using cognitive behavioral interventions to reduce recidivism and enhance public safety.

In this role, you will address the housing needs of adults who are disabled, chronically homeless, and seeking permanent housing. Your responsibilities will include:

* Conducting assessments and identifying housing needs

* Arranging and providing pre-tenancy, housing stabilization, and tenancy sustaining services

* Coordinating housing-focused services

Regular tasks will involve:

* Conducting outreach with housing-insecure individuals.

* Collaborating with community housing providers and initiatives.

* Holding one-on-one sessions regarding housing and supportive services with clients.

* Completing regular and thorough documentation and notes regarding sessions.

* Entering, uploading, and regularly maintaining program statistics.

* Grant management - including client applications, supporting documents, approvals, and more.

* Attending various meetings regularly, including staff meetings and supportive services programming.

* Engaging in public relations with community landlords, housing programs, and other referral sources.
