We especially encourage women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and people with disabilities to apply.Position Title Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Statistics or Data Science Position Number 896483 School/Division Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Natural Science DepartmentFull-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description The Department of Mathematics at Hofstra University invites applications for openings for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant or associate professor position in Statistics or Data Science for Fall 2024 as part of a cluster in Big Data and Computational Research with a total of four positions in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics & Astronomy. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or related field with a strong statistical background, a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education, and experience in teaching at the undergraduate level for both mathematics majors and general liberal arts students. The cluster is designed to support the University's goals with respect to diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and the Mathematics Department encourages candidates from underrepresented groups in higher education to apply.   • PhD in mathematics, statistics, or closely-related discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses as instructor of record.

  • Prior experience applying active-learning or student-centered pedagogy.
  • Post-doctoral experience.
  • Openness to collaborate with the computational cohort to develop undergraduate classes and research initiatives.
