We are a primarily undergraduate teaching institution engaging students in faculty-mentored research. We offer a BS degree in Biology and BS & MS degrees in Biotechnology. The science complex has modern facilities including a microscopy suite (SEM/TEM/confocal/fluorescent), vivarium, greenhouse, and molecular biology equipment. The College of Science and Health is committed to serving underrepresented minority students in STEM and has two grant-funded programs to promote student success of underrepresented minorities in STEM fields. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Teaching: load is typically 12 credit hours per semester, reducible with external funding such as grants, and would include general biology, animal physiology and advanced courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
- Teaching: in-person, hybrid and/or online; Course delivery, development, and assessment: engaging with faculty to ensure efficient organization of courses and coursework; teaching courses within the curriculum and developing courses and curriculum; engage in formal and informal processes of departmental assessment of student learning and programming.
- Teaching: Supporting the academic success of students.
- Scholarship: Develop a student-centered research program at a primarily undergraduate institution.
- Scholarship: Contribute to scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline resulting in scholarly publications and presentations.
- Service: Participate in a variety of service opportunities at the department, college and university levels.
- Service: Advise and mentor students per department need.
Required Qualifications:- PhD in Biology or related field.
- Evidence of potential to conduct independent research in area of expertise.
- Ability and willingness to mentor undergraduate student research.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.
Additional, Preferred Qualifications:- Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
- Teaching experience is preferred.
